A set of detectors located under the floor and a corresponding set located in the roof allow detection of cosmic particles going through the room. The detectors are pieces of plastic scintillator in which the cosmic particles induce a light signal, amplified by a photo-multiplier. They are controled and read-out in groups of 4 by a HTD4 box.
The HTD4 boxes are connected to a central box ECD32 which is able to control up to 8 HTD4’s, i.e. 32 detectors. This ECD32 box is controled and read-out by a standard personal computer with a digital acquisition board.
Information on the cosmic particles trajectories is sent in real time to the sound generation system via the MIDI interface. A real time three-dimensional representation is also available on the control computer screen.
